Job Description

This is a remote position. We are looking for a highly qualified Data Scientist with strong Databricks expertise.

This role involves a project based on an initial three-month contract with a strong option for extension. Fluent German and English language skills are mandatory.

The position is primarily remote, but it requires occasional on-site visits in Germany.

Responsibilities

• Design & Implementation: Lead the development of advanced personalization and recommendation use cases focusing on customer activation and loyalty programs.
• Model Development: Create and optimize recommendation models and algorithms using PySpark and Spark SQL within a Databricks environment.
• Workflow Orchestration: Support in orchestrating recommendation workflows and ensure seamless integration into existing technical architectures.
• Algorithmic Strategy: Develop configurable, algorithm-based approaches, including regional profit optimization and management of multiple recommendation sources.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with central teams to maintain robust governance and provide technical input for architectural decisions.
• System Integration: Assist in integration tasks in the areas of CRM, CDP, and various downstream activation systems.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with internal business units and create high-level outcomes for management and executive committees.

Requirements

Language Skills: Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken, are mandatory.

Technical Expertise: Extensive practical experience in development with PySpark, Spark SQL, and Databricks (including notebooks and orchestration).

Data Science & Data Engineering: Ability to design complex algorithms as well as create underlying data pipelines.

Specialization: Proven track record in building and deploying recommendation solutions, ideally in the context of wholesale (retail) or marketing.

Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Residency: A residence in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland is required.
