Job Description

This is a remote position.

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer (DevOps) for a comprehensive digital infrastructure modernisation project within the public sector. The role of Platform Engineer is a full-time contract on a daily rate basis. Collaboration is primarily remote, though occasional on-site meetings in Germany may be required. The project is set on a 12-month contract basis.

Fluent German is essential, complemented by professional-level English.

Responsibilities

• Building and operating high-availability cloud and on-premise platforms.
• Administering and optimising Kubernetes clusters and OpenShift environments.
• Automating infrastructure processes using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
• Ensuring platform security, particularly regarding certificate management and identity protection.
• Assisting with the implementation of messaging systems and modern data-streaming solutions.

Requirements

• Solid experience in Platform Engineering or DevOps.
• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes or OpenShift administration.
• Practical experience in automation using Terraform and Ansible.
• Proficient with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
• Ideally, prior experience with HashiCorp Vault and PKI systems.
• Knowledge of Kafka distributions (e.g. Confluent) is an advantage.
• Experience delivering complex infrastructure projects within regulated environments.
• Fluent written and spoken German (essential).
• Professional-level English is required.
• Valid residency and work permit for the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
