Job Description
DataStaff, Inc. is seeking an AWS/Java Developer for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients located in Raleigh, NC. This position is hybrid.
Our client is seeking an AWS/Java developer with 8-10 years of software development experience. This role involves close collaboration with the data modernization teams to design, implement, and manage AWS solutions that align with their technical requirements and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose effective modernization strategies.
- Design, develop and test Java-based, cloud-native applications and backend systems.
- Designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines.
- Analyzing data models and business requirements.
- Data Validation: Query the database to verify that data is correctly inserted, updated, and deleted by the application, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Design, Create and Execute Test Cases.
- Back-end Testing: Validating back-end logic and data processing that might not be immediately visible through the user interface.
- Collaboration: Working closely with developers and business analysts to understand data requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Utilize AWS services within application architecture.
- Develop, test, debug and deliver within timeline using best tools and best practices available.
- Participate in code reviews, ensure security best practices, and maintain clean, efficient code.
- Monitor application performance and optimize for cost, security, and reliability.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and challenges.
- Ensures adherence to standards and best practices.
- Work with product manager, business stakeholders, and other team members to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in modernizing legacy applications, including refactoring/migrating in-house legacy applications to the cloud environment.
- Proficient in utilizing AWS services and related components to build enterprise-level Data Lakes.
- Experience in software development with hands-on skills in Java โ strong Java, J2EE, Java Spring framework & Hibernate technology.
- Experience working with any transactional or RDMS databases.
- Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools.
- SQL - Writing Complex Queries, understanding Database Relationships, debugging, and performance tuning.
- ETL tools - Hands-on experience with cloud-based tools.
- Understanding data modeling.
- Knowledge/experience using any ETL tools; experience with data analytics using PowerBI or AWS QuickSight is a plus.
Required Skills
- 5 Years - Proficient in using various AWS services (e.g., VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue Crawlers, Athena) to build and manage cloud.
- 7 Years - Experience in software development with hands-on skills in Java - strong Java, J2EE, Java Spring framework & Hibernate technology.
- 5 Years - Experience in modernizing applications, including refactoring, migration, and cloud-native development.
- 5 Years - Knowledge of modern database technologies and strategies for migrating and modernizing database systems.
- 5 Years - Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools.
- 7 Years - Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and stakeholders.
- 3 Years - Experience working on creating AWS ETL jobs, data pipelines with high volumes of data.
Desired Skills
- 2 Years - Experience with data analytics, business intelligence solutions (like Power BI or AWS QuickSight).
- AWS Certification.
- State Government experience.

This opportunity is available on a corp-to-corp basis or as a W2 position with a competitive benefits package. Job Type: Contract
Pay: $58.00 - $62.00 per hour
