We are seeking a Senior Motion Designer for a 3~6 month fixed-term contract. This role emphasizes expressive visual systems and character-led animation within product contexts. The successful candidate will work closely with the industrial design team to develop and animate face-level graphics, expressions, and visual states. The work is initially concept-driven and will evolve into a refined and cohesive animated system. This position offers a pro-rata salary and requires office presence.

Requirements

Duties

• Develop and animate expressive 2D graphics, including faces, character-like behaviors, and state changes.
• Create motion studies to explore personality, tone, and responsiveness.
• Refine animations to production-ready 2D outputs.
• Contribute to the development of a cohesive visual and motion language.
• Collaborate closely with industrial designers to ensure motion integrates naturally with physical forms.
• Prepare clear presentations and motion prototypes for internal and occasional client review.

Skills & Attributes (Required)

• 5+ years of experience in motion design or animation.
• Strong 2D animation skills (e.g., in After Effects or equivalent).
• Demonstrable experience animating expressive or character-based graphics.
• Excellent sense of timing, easing, and behavioral nuance.
• Strong graphic design fundamentals (composition, hierarchy, visual clarity).
• Ability to develop and maintain consistency across a system of animated states.
• Confident communicator, comfortable presenting work internally.
• Able to work in the UK.

Skills & Attributes (Beneficial)

• Experience animating faces or character-driven interfaces.
• Familiarity with 3D tools (e.g., Blender, Cinema 4D, After Effects) for simple head or object motion studies.
• Experience working within product or industrial design environments.
• Interest in expressive visual systems and behavior design.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools within motion workflows.

Additional Information

The position will be based in our London office (Hackney, E2). Working from home is offered one day per week. Please note we do not offer working from abroad; all employees are expected to be in our London studio a minimum of four days a week. Overseas applicants are welcome but must hold valid British Citizenship or a valid right to work in the UK—visa sponsorships are not available.
