Job Description

This position is a contract role requiring on-site presence at sports events with travel required to CU. The schedule is event-based with flexible hours. The focus is on creating story-driven sports video content through on-camera interviews and event storytelling.

Requirements for the Role

Core Skill Areas:

On-Camera Interviews:

• Conduct on-camera interviews with staff, coaches, and parents.
• Capture clean, professional audio in noisy environments.
• Ask guided questions that draw out authentic, compelling responses.
• Frame shots that feel cinematic and intentional.
• Understand how to properly adjust in-camera lighting settings for different environments.

Event Storytelling (B-roll & Environment):

• Capture crowd, sideline, warm-ups, reactions, and details.
• Film the environment to help tell the story of the event.
• Think like a documentary shooter, not a sideline filmer.
• Deliver footage editors can use to build a narrative.

Professional Production Practices:

• Use your own professional camera, lenses, audio, and stabilization.
• Manage media, batteries, and gear independently.
• Deliver well-organized footage ready for post-production.
• Communicate clearly and work without supervision.

Who We’re Looking For:

• Experienced videographers (2+ years preferred) who have filmed events or documentaries.
• Know how to run interviews without hand-holding.
• Understand lighting, audio, framing, and composition.
• Can work fast and think on their feet.
• Want ongoing event work, not one-off gigs.

Important Note

This is not a “stand on the sideline and record the game” position. We are building story-driven sports video content and need professionals who know how to capture the moments that make the story possible.
