Interior Designer is needed in Seattle, United States.
Client: Melissa Cahoon Interiors
Location: Seattle, WA
Contract: Temporary
Job Description
I am a Seattle-based interior designer and founder of a growing luxury interior design studio. I am currently leading a large-scale whole home project in Broadmoor, one of Seattle’s most prestigious neighborhoods, and am seeking an experienced Technical Designer / CAD Drafter to collaborate closely with me.
This role is not simply a drafting position; I am looking for someone who understands both precision and beauty, capable of translating refined design concepts into highly accurate technical drawings while maintaining a strong visual sensibility. There is potential for a long-term role as my primary senior designer within the studio.
Requirements
Scope of Work:
- Whole house drafting (field-verified measurements provided or coordinated locally)
- Detailed space planning
- Interior elevations (cabinetry, built-ins, bathrooms, kitchens, millwork, fireplace details, etc.)
- Lighting plans and reflected ceiling plans as needed
- Contractor-ready drawing sets
- Exporting and formatting drawings for polished, client-facing Canva presentations
- Contributions to the creative process
Ideal Candidate:
- 5+ years experience in residential interior technical design
- Highly proficient in AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) and Canva (ideally can transfer AutoCAD drawings and overlay in color into Canva presentations for clients)
- Experience drafting for high-end residential projects
- Strong understanding of millwork, custom cabinetry, and construction detailing
- Excellent space planning skills
- Ability to anticipate contractor questions and think through buildability
- Strong visual aesthetic - European-inspired, classic, layered, luxury interiors
Beyond technical skill, I am seeking someone who:
- Understands how to interpret and honor the vision of a Principal Designer who acts as a creative director
- Can thoughtfully expand upon that vision with their own talent and insight
- Enjoys collaborative dialogue and creative problem-solving
- Wants to contribute to building strong systems and studio processes
- Is invested in long-term collaboration and a great working culture—not just task execution
- Brings a positive, professional, growth-minded attitude
This role requires someone who can both execute with precision and participate creatively—balancing humility, confidence, and discernment.
Additional Information
Aesthetic Direction:
The studio aesthetic is classic, timeless, and European-influenced, focusing on high-end upholstery, vintage and antique layering, natural materials, and refined architectural detailing. Our clientele expects exceptional quality, clarity, and polish in both design and documentation.

I value clear communication, proactive thinking, and refined execution. I am building a studio rooted in craftsmanship, beauty, and strong operational systems. This role will begin project-based, with strong potential for ongoing collaboration and growth.
To Apply:

- A brief description of your drafting workflow

I look forward to connecting with someone who cares deeply about both technical excellence and beautiful design—and who is excited to build something meaningful together.
