Job Description

That’s No Moon is an independent studio of storytellers and game-makers who focus on creating narrative-driven experiences. We are seeking a hardworking Senior Technical Game Designer to develop systems, mechanics, prototypes, workflows, and pipelines. You will collaborate with experienced developers to drive innovation, quality, and fidelity for next-gen gameplay and storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Create new mechanics, systems, event scripting, and interactive objects as part of a highly skilled team.
• Design, prototype, and implement gameplay systems from scratch, while refining existing systems to ensure a high-quality player experience.
• Collaborate with engineering, animation, and design teams to implement content, address workflow issues, and establish content pipelines.
• Take ownership of your vision by prototyping and executing it using your own skills.
• Communicate openly with team members to inspire collaboration across departments.
• Work with producers to plan and prioritize your development schedule, knowing which design parts are most critical and making scope adjustments as necessary.

Requirements & Skills

• Extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine and Blueprints.
• Experience with text-based scripting and programming languages (e.g., XML, PERL, C++).
• Knowledge of and interest in the type of game we are developing.
• Familiarity with art packages such as Maya, Max, and the Adobe suite is a plus.

• Possess a cinematic eye for game systems and mechanics; adept at pitching ideas clearly and visually.
• Take ownership of your content; responsible for shipping approved designs.
• Demonstrate creativity and initiative; eager to prototype innovative ideas.
• Be proactive in pitching concepts to enhance the game.
• Be a generalist, acquiring versatile skills to support your vision, while collaborating with artists and engineers.
• Demonstrate responsibility in checking in script and level content without review, ensuring the integrity of the build.

Additional Information

This is a temporary “Project Hire” position with varying duration. Employees in this role are eligible for TNM benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and flexible PTO.

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $125,000 - $165,000. Compensation considers industry benchmarks, location, experience, and other specific skills.
