Job Description

MKS2 Technologies, LLC, an award-winning high growth small business, creates innovative and customer-centric technology solutions in Cyber Security, Instructional Design and Training, Software Engineering, and IT Support Services. We are seeking an API Developer for the VA Lighthouse Program, which focuses on modernizing access to VA data through secure, scalable APIs. This fully remote role is temp-to-hire, with conversion eligibility based on client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and document API specifications, endpoints, data models, and protocols (REST, GraphQL).
• Build and implement APIs using Java, Python, Ruby, and .NET.
• Integrate APIs with internal systems, external applications, and third-party services.
• Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; debug and resolve issues.
• Maintain clear, comprehensive API documentation, including usage examples and best practices.
• Implement security best practices including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
• Monitor and optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Manage API versioning and ensure backward compatibility.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including front-end and back-end developers, architects, and QA engineers.
• Provide ongoing support, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements based on user feedback.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch.
• Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Git Releases.
• Knowledge of Jaeger and OpenTracing.
• Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, Oracle, AWS RDS, and Document DBs (DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Proficiency in Ruby and Python.
• Experience with AWS Cloud services.
• Familiarity with Backstage.io.
• Understanding of OpenAPI specifications.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Familiarity with VA Lighthouse APIs is preferred.

Salary: $105,000–$125,000
