Job Description

MADE Hoops is seeking talented freelance writers who are passionate about basketball and storytelling to join their team. Writers will help present the stories of the next generation of basketball stars, covering grassroots basketball from rising prospects to thrilling tournaments. The position is remote but prioritizes candidates located on the West Coast and in the Midwest for better regional coverage.

Responsibilities

• Cover grassroots basketball events, tournaments, and showcases.
• Write engaging articles, features, player profiles, and game recaps.
• Conduct interviews with players, coaches, and event organizers.
• Provide insightful analysis and commentary on player performance and team dynamics.
• Adhere to editorial guidelines and deadlines.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to pitch and develop story ideas.

Qualifications

• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Deep knowledge and passion for grassroots basketball, including players, teams, and events.
• Ability to produce high-quality, original content under tight deadlines.
• Excellent research and interview skills.
• Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and SEO best practices is a plus.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
• Prior experience in sports journalism or content creation is preferred but not required.

Opportunity

This is a freelance, project-based position with competitive rates. Writers will have the chance to cover exciting events and gain exposure within the grassroots basketball community, with compensation based on a per-article rate dependent upon experience.
