Call for VFX Artists – Portfolio Samples for Research Project

We’re partnering with a major AI research team on a confidential project and are looking for experienced VFX artists with strong existing portfolio work.

What We’re Looking For
Existing VFX shots that:

• You personally own and control (no studio/publisher/client‑owned work).
  IP will still be retained by you; the samples will be used for research purposes alone.
• Contain no third‑party IP:
  • No copyrighted or trademarked characters, logos, or brands.
  • No close lookalikes of well‑known film/TV/game/commercial IP.
    Especially relevant:
• Character/superhero sequences
• FX‑heavy shots (smoke, fire, particles, destruction, weather, etc.)
• Complex compositing and CG/live‑action integration

Files (For Now)
Right now, we only need portfolio samples:

• Links to final rendered clips (and breakdowns/reels if you have them).
• Minimum of 1 sample, no maximum
• If you’re selected later, we will ask for access to the underlying project/source files (e.g. Houdini, Nuke, Maya, etc.), but this is not required at the initial stage.

Payment

• You will be paid per sample + source files. Payment will only be made to the selected artists. If you are not selected, your submission will not be used.
• There may be additional paid work where we ask you to make slight changes to the samples, such as lighting effects.

How to Express Interest
Please send:

• Links to your best relevant VFX shots (final renders; breakdowns optional).
• A brief description for each sample of:
  • What each shot shows
  • Which tools you used
  • How long it took to make each clip
  • A short note confirming - you own the work and it does not include third‑party IP.
  • Your expected payment per sample and your hourly rate for any ongoing work

Shortlisted artists will be contacted to discuss next steps and potential collaboration.
