Call for 3D Animators & Tech Artists – 4D Physics Data for Research project
We’re partnering with a major AI research team on a confidential project focused on teaching models the “logic” of the physical world. We are looking for experienced 3D animators and technical artists who can provide us with existing high-fidelity scenes that mimic reality through complex physics and movement.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking 3D scenes of unique environments. We are specifically looking for 4D Physics Data: how objects move, collide, and deform in 3D space over time.
Content Requirements:
- Physical Diversity: We need a wide range of motion types, including:
- Rigid: Furniture, props, architectural elements.
- Rigid Jointed: Machinery, robotics, vehicles.
- Non-Rigid: Cloth, fluids, soft-body dynamics.
- IP Clean: You must personally own and control the work. No third-party IP, copyrighted characters, or trademarked brands.
- High Fidelity: Scenes must be grounded in realistic physics rather than “stylized” or “abstract” motion.
The Metadata Stack
For every clip, we require high-fidelity synthetic data. If selected, you will provide:
- Primary: RGB Video, Depth Maps, Camera Data (Extrinsics/Intrinsics), Optical Flow, and Point Tracks (2D/3D).
- Secondary (Nice-to-Have): Surface Normals and Segmentation Masks (Instance/Semantic).
Tools & Deliverables
We accept work from all major 3D and compositing engines, provided they are organized for data extraction:
- 3D/Physics: Unreal Engine, Houdini, Cinema4D, Maya, etc.
- Compositing: Nuke, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, etc.
- Formats: We can accept Rendered Video Layers (with a common naming ontology) or Raw Project Files. Project files must be organized with standardized labeling for scripted extraction.
Payment & Rights
- Rights: You retain the creative rights to your work. We are licensing the underlying technical data and layers for research purposes.
- Payment: You will be paid per scene/sample + source files. Payment is only made to selected artists.
- Scaling: Shortlisted artists may be engaged for a larger-scale project following the initial pilot.
How to Express Interest
Please send:
- Links to your best relevant 3D/VFX work (final renders only for now)
- A brief description for your samples detailing:
- The type of physics shown (Rigid, Jointed, or Non-Rigid).
- The software used (e.g., Houdini, Unreal).
- Whether you can provide the full metadata stack (Depth, Flow, etc.) or the raw project files.
A short note confirming:
- You own the work and it contains no third-party IP.
- Your expected pay per scene and your hourly rate for technical adjustments/extractions.
