Job Description

The role is with EA SPORTS, a leading sports entertainment brand known for top-selling videogame franchises like Madden NFL football, FC soccer, NHL® hockey, and EA SPORTS UFC.

As a Technical Game Designer on EA SPORTS Madden NFL Football, you will be responsible for building new presentation features and complex systems. You will work closely with design, engineering, and content teams throughout the development process, from concept to live tuning.

Responsibilities

  • Work with designers, engineers, and creatives to develop innovative gameplay systems.
  • Implement and deliver gameplay systems and/or modes from concept to ship quality.
  • Align with multiple disciplines to communicate the vision of gameplay features.
  • Ensure a high-quality release by bug fixing, balancing, and creating a fun gameplay experience.
  • Pitch ideas, provide feedback, and iterate rapidly with the team.
  • Build quick prototypes of new features.
  • Create robust scripting-driven implementations that are scalable and maintainable.

Requirements

  • Experience with scripting languages (such as Lua, Python, Javascript, etc.).
  • Experience as a Technical Designer on multiple shipped titles.
  • Passion for crafting gameplay systems, mechanics, and game modes.
  • Familiarity and passion for American Football and related products.
  • Understanding of the game design process, especially game mechanics and design theory.
  • Experience with content-driven game engines (Unreal, Frostbite, Unity, GtkRadiant).
  • Ability to read and understand C++.
  • Experience in developing for a multiplayer live service environment.
