Job Description

The Sign Maker and Inventory Specialist First Class is responsible for designing, fabricating, installing, and maintaining high-quality DOT (i.e., FDOT, GDOT, SHA, IDOT, CDOT, and NCDOT) signage that meets each state’s requirements. This role combines accuracy, technical skills, and hands-on craftsmanship to deliver compliant solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and layout signage using industry-standard graphic design software such as and not limited to: Adobe Illustrator, SignCAD, or CorelDRAW.
• Fabricate signs using materials such as vinyl and metal through cutting, printing, laminating, engraving, and assembly.
• Procure various signposts, sign templates, and printing supplies.
• Ensure warehouse and inventory oversight.
• Install signage at sites using ladders, lifts, and other equipment.
• Ensure all signage complies with local, state, and federal regulations, zoning laws, and safety standards.
• Conduct quality control inspections.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in a clean and safe condition.
• Determine and ship signs.
• Call in locate tickets for signpost placement.
• Provide excellent customer service and address modifications, concerns, or complaints in a professional manner.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in traffic signage or graphic design or a related field preferred. Bachelor’s or associate degree preferred.
• Prior experience in sign making, printing, fabrication, or a related trade.
• Prior experience or capacity to oversee inventory.
• Experience operating fabrication equipment including printers, cutters, plotters, laminators, and basic hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret measurements, drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Skills

Skills required include proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, knowledge of DOT regulations, inventory tracking, roadway and highway design, and experience with Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. Familiarity with SignCAD, CorelDRAW, assembly, and operating hand and power tools is essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davie, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
