Job Description

This is a remote position. We are looking for a Senior Quality Manual and Automation Engineer to join a technically demanding integrations QA team embedded within a healthcare and enterprise systems program. This is a hands-on role that combines rigorous API and data validation with a clear path toward automation ownership. You will work under the direction of a QA Lead, validating complex integration workflows between internal intake systems and external partners. You will be expected to bring solid, proven Playwright automation expertise as a core strength — and own and drive the team’s automated coverage of the most critical integration flows. This is a 100% remote contractor position for candidates based in Latin America, working LATAM hours aligned to US Central/Eastern timezone.

Requirements

  • Automation (NON-NEGOTIABLE): Solid, senior-level Playwright experience is the top hard requirement. Must be able to architect frameworks, not just write scripts. Selenium/FlaUI background is a plus.
  • API Testing: 6+ years in QA/QE/SDET roles — with significant ownership of automation frameworks with strong Postman experience — constructing requests, inspecting XML/JSON, validating multi-step flows.
  • SQL: Ability to write and run queries in Oracle SQL Developer and/or SSMS for data validation and defect investigation.
  • Integration Testing: Experience validating data exchanges between enterprise systems, middleware layers, or external partners.
  • Payload Analysis: Comfortable parsing and analyzing XML and JSON payloads, identifying field-level discrepancies and mapping issues.
  • Tools: TestRail (or equivalent) for test case management; Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar for defect tracking.
  • Communication: Strong English — written and verbal. Able to document findings and coordinate with technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Automation (Core expectation)

  • Design and implement automated test coverage for integration workflows using Playwright as the primary framework.
  • Transition validated manual test cases to automated coverage — owning the automation lifecycle for the flows you test.
  • Collaborate with the broader automation team (Selenium/FlaUI in use) to coordinate coverage and framework alignment.
  • Structure manual test cases with automation-readiness in mind: clear inputs, expected outputs, reusable data patterns.

Integration and API Testing

  • Manually test and validate integrations between internal intake systems and external partner platforms across multiple healthcare service lines.
  • Inspect, parse, and validate XML and JSON payloads transacting through middleware integration layers, including multi-message transaction flows.
  • Use Postman to execute and validate API calls, inspect responses, and confirm correct data flow across systems.
  • Validate backend data integrity using Oracle SQL Developer and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).

Test planning and execution:

  • Write, organize, and execute test cases in TestRail covering integration scenarios, regression, and edge cases.
  • Log, triage, and track defects in Azure DevOps, including root cause analysis across integrated systems.
  • Produce daily status reports summarizing test run results and open defects (title, owner, state, and age).
  • Support UAT cycles and coordinate validation with business stakeholders and external partners.

Nice to Have

  • Healthcare, insurance, or regulated industry integration experience.
  • Familiarity with EDI-like patterns: HL7, X12, or proprietary XML schemas.
  • Experience with Oracle EBS or similar enterprise platform integrations.
  • Experience coordinating with external vendors as part of integration testing.
  • Comfort working in legacy or highly coupled systems with limited test environment isolation.
