Job Description

As a Freelance Producer at Sofar Sounds, you will curate, produce, and promote concerts and live events with Live Electronic Artists. This role requires you to be deeply connected to the live electronic scene and to book grassroots talent in intimate and unique spaces. You will create the strategy for live electronic programming and will be supported by the Sofar NYC team in producing exceptional events and marketing initiatives.

This is a freelance role designed for self-starters who wish to have meaningful ownership over community engagement through event planning, curation, marketing, and execution. Producers work on a commission basis, allowing for a flexible schedule, with activities likely concentrated during weekends and evenings.

Requirements

• Deep connections to the local electronic scene and active role in community-building
• 3-5 years of experience in live event curation, production, and promotions
• Confidence in pitching ideas and concepts to sponsors and partners
• Strong awareness of local neighborhoods and venues
• Proven ability to build relationships with community organizations and local businesses
• Understanding of strategic alliances that enhance ticket sales
• Professionalism and ownership in all work-related tasks
• Exceptional time management and communication skills
• Able to work independently while remaining connected with the broader team

Compensation and Additional Information

Producers earn commission-based pay per show, with compensation varying based on ticket prices, show volume, and event performance, ranging from $100-$500 per event.
