Job Description

Halogen Engineering Group is looking for a Cloud Software Engineer who can develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse Big-Data Cloud systems based upon documented requirements. The role requires direct contributions to all stages of back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing. The engineer will provide expertise in Cloud Computing, Hadoop Eco-System, implement Java applications, and work on Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval (IR), and Object Oriented Design. The position allows for both individual and team work. Responsibilities include reviewing and testing software components for adherence to design requirements, resolving software problem reports, utilizing appropriate software development methodologies, and contributing to system design components.

Salary Range: The projected compensation for this position is $240K - $247K (annualized USD). Compensation is determined by various factors including location, education, skills, and experience.

Requirements

• Twelve (12) years of software engineering experience in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline is required; four (4) years must be in programs utilizing Big-Data cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.
• Four (4) years of cloud software engineering experience on similar Big-Data projects may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
• A Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience. Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may substitute for one (1) year of Cloud experience.

The following Cloud related experiences are required:

• Two (2) years of Cloud and/or Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR).
• One (1) year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud Big Table.
• One (1) year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud Distributed File System.
• One (1) year of experience implementing complex MapReduce analytics.
• One (1) year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
• One (1) year of experience in architecting Cloud Computing solutions.
• One (1) year of experience in debugging Cloud-based Distributed Computing Frameworks.
• One (1) year of experience managing multi-node Cloud installations.

Experience in Computer Network Operations includes:

• Utility Computing, Network Management, Virtualization (VMWare or VirtualBox), Cloud Computing.
• Multi Node Management and Installation of Cloud and Distributed Computing on multiple nodes, including Python, CFEngine, Bash, Ruby, or related technologies.
• Experience in Information Assurance: Securing Cloud Based and Distributed applications through industry-standard techniques.

Experience in Information Technology includes:

• Object Oriented Design and Programming, Java, Eclipse or similar development environment, MAVEN, RESTful web services.
• Cloud and Distributed Computing Technologies: at least one or a combination of YARN, J2EE, MapReduce, Zookeeper, HDFS, HBase, JMS, Concurrent Programming.
• Cloud and Distributed Computing Information Retrieval: HDFS, HBASE, Apache Lucene, Apache Solr, MongoDB.
• Ingesting, Parsing, and Analysis of Disparate Data-sources and formats: XML, JSON, CSV, Binary Formats.
• Aspect Oriented Design and Development.
• Debugging and Profiling Cloud and Distributed Installations, focusing on Java Virtual Machine (JVM) memory management.
• UNIX/LINUX, CentOS.

Experience in SIGINT includes:

• Experience with at least one SIGINT collection discipline area (FORNSAT, CABLE, Terrestrial/Microwave, Overhead, and ELINT).
• Geolocation, emitter identification, and signal applications; joint program collection platforms and dataflow architectures.

Experience with Other Tools includes:

• CentOS, Linux/RedHat.
• Configuration management tools such as Subversion, ClearQuest, or Razor.
