Job Description

This is a hybrid position in Chicago, IL. Our client, a national nonprofit public health association, seeks a Senior UX/UI Designer to join their team. This highly collaborative role will drive the design and optimization of multiple pages on the organization platform. This role requires partnership across a matrixed environment, working closely with product, engineering, marketing, and content teams to deliver best-in-class learning experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design high-fidelity, intuitive, visually appealing, and user-centric digital products/interfaces (websites, apps) by blending user research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design adhering to brand, accessibility, and responsive design standards.
• Lead the UX and UI design for new and existing pages, from discovery, testing to delivery.
• Identify design problems based on learners’ friction points and devise elegant, visually appealing solutions.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and synthesize feedback to iterate on designs.
• Transform research and data into wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Develop user journey maps, detailed flows, and wireframes.
• Apply principles of interaction design, information architecture, accessibility, and responsive web practices to all deliverables.
• Develop and maintain design documentation and style guides for consistency across the platform.
• Collaborate in a matrixed environment with cross-functional teams, facilitating workshops, design reviews, and feedback sessions.
• Stay up to date on latest UX/UI trends and technology best practices.
• Build and maintain design systems, ensuring consistency and scalability.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams throughout all stages of interface/web design development.
• Incorporate feedback from stakeholders, users, and data analytics to optimize designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in design, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
• 8+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design, with some senior role experience.
• Exceptional portfolio demonstrating expertise in end-to-end UX and UI design for web and mobile platforms.
• Expert proficiency with industry-standard tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
• Strong understanding of interaction design, information architecture, accessibility (WCAG), and responsive web practices.
• Experience creating and managing design systems.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
• Ability to lead projects, influence product vision, and work independently.

Additional Information

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Downtown Chicago, IL

Schedule: Hybrid | Part-Time (~20 hours per week)

Duration: Long-Term Contract (guaranteed through end of 2026)

Compensation: $50 - $60/hour
