Living on the edge: life in trailers in the desert outside Las Vegas

Film Fixer is needed in Las Vegas, United States.

I am a documentary maker from the Netherlands working on a non-sensational, human-centered documentary to be published in a book about housing on the margins of society around Las Vegas, Nevada. The project explores the lives of people residing in trailers, RVs, and off-grid or semi-off-grid situations in the desert outside the city, focusing on both those who have chosen this way of life and those pushed into it by economic or social challenges. I am seeking a local field fixer or producer with deep knowledge of Las Vegas and its surrounding desert areas who can provide access to these communities and help with respectful, ethical introductions to potential interview subjects. The project prioritizes cultural sensitivity, safety, and clear communication with full participant consent. Ideally, the collaborator will have experience in documentary, journalism, or field production, and an understanding of issues related to housing insecurity or marginalized groups.

Who are you, and what do you do?
I am a flight attendant from The Netherlands working for the Airline KLM. Because of my job I am able to travel around the world and got interested in different little ‘communities’ everywhere. I am now working on a book that gaves little “insights” with photographs ánd written text giving more information and my personal observations with the strong emphasize on the people and the story behind their way of living.
