Job Description

The Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD) within the Department is seeking experienced and motivated Front-end Developers/User Interface Designers to support ongoing major projects across the Corporate and Digital Division. The focus will be on driving a human-centric approach to service delivery, understanding customer, business, and technology needs to deliver effective digital services. Candidates will work in multi-disciplinary teams, delivering intuitive, fit-for-purpose interfaces through a lean design process involving rapid prototyping, testing, and implementation of solutions.

Initial Contract Duration: 12 Months

Extension term details: 12 Months

Number of extensions: 2

Location: ACT

Security Requirements: Must have Baseline

Working Arrangements: Onsite; Remote working may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Maximum hours: 40 hours per week

Technical Skills (Required):

  • Experience implementing responsive UI components for web applications and websites using HTML/CSS, ReactJS, and/or Angular.
  • Experience using prototyping tools such as Adobe XD, Axure, or Figma is highly desirable.
  • Understanding and application of design principles and systems.
  • Understanding and implementation of WCAG 2.1 level AA guidelines as a minimum.

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience designing user interfaces within an existing style guide and/or design system using HTML, CSS, and Javascript frameworks such as ReactJS and/or Angular.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work with and influence multiple stakeholders, clearly articulating design decisions.
  • Experience in translating findings from usability testing into actionable improvements to a user interface.
  • Knowledge and implementation of Accessibility requirements - WCAG 2.1, level AA as a minimum.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience designing wireframes, user interfaces, and interactive prototypes with a high attention to detail.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in a design or computer science/ICT-related discipline.

Additional Information

Due to the requirement for immediate access to PROTECTED information and systems, personnel proposed for this role must hold a current Baseline security clearance at commencement.
