Music Composer for Feature DocumentarySearching
We are Karuna Bhandari and Dipesh Chandra, the directing and producing team behind Take Me to the River, a feature documentary produced by Riviere Films (India) and Crystal Mountain Films (USA). The film is a 90-minute observational coming-of-age documentary set in a riverbank slum in Prayagraj, India, following Rahul, a 16-year-old from a family of corpse retrievers who dreams of becoming a boatman. This project explores themes of caste, resilience, tenderness, and hope and is currently in production, with international industry recognition and festival interest. We seek a music composer with a strong grounding in Indian classical and folk music (especially Hindustani traditions and instruments like bansuri, sarangi, santoor, tabla), who understands observational and slow cinema, and who values the emotional importance of silence. Sensitivity to the ethical context around caste and marginalization is essential. The collaboration will be remote and include online spotting sessions. As an independently funded film, the fee will be modest unless further funding is secured; we offer full composer credit, festival exposure, and the potential for future work as the scope of the project grows.
