Freelance CAD Designer – Airstream Interior Layouts & Cabinetry

Location: Remote

Job Type: Freelance / Contract (ongoing work available)

About Us: We design and build custom classic Airstream trailers, focusing on clean, modern interiors with high-end cabinetry and efficient use of space. We are looking for a skilled freelance CAD designer to help translate concepts into detailed, build-ready drawings.

What You’ll Do:

• Create 2D and 3D interior layouts for Airstream trailer floorplans
• Produce elevations and section views for cabinetry and interior components
• Develop detailed cabinetry drawings (dimensions, joinery, hardware placement)
• Collaborate on space planning and functional design solutions
• Revise drawings based on feedback from our fabrication team

Requirements

• Proficiency in CAD software (Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar)
• Strong understanding of cabinet construction and joinery
• Experience creating dimensioned shop drawings
• Ability to think in tight, constrained spaces (RV/boat/tiny home experience is a big plus)
• Understanding of materials like plywood, laminates, and lightweight composites
• Ability to communicate clearly and iterate quickly

Nice to Have (Big Plus)

• Experience with Airstream, RV, van, or marine interiors
• Familiarity with CNC workflows (toolpaths, sheet layouts, etc.)
• Knowledge of hardware like Blum hinges, slides, and lift systems
• 3D modeling + rendering capability

Deliverables

• Fully dimensioned layout drawings
• Cabinet elevations and section details
• Cut-ready or CNC-ready files (when needed)
• Organized file structure for ongoing projects

Compensation

• Hourly or per-project (depending on experience)
• Ongoing work available for the right fit
