Job Description

Halogen Engineering Group is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance complex Big-Data Cloud systems based on documented requirements. The engineer will contribute to all stages of back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing, while providing expertise in Cloud Computing, the Hadoop Eco-System, Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval, and Object Oriented Design. The role involves both individual and team work, along with reviewing and testing software components for adherence to design requirements, documenting test results, and resolving software problem reports. The engineer will also provide input to system design, including software and hardware trade-offs.

Salary Range: $213K - $219K annualized (USD)

Salary is determined by various factors, including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and contract-specific requirements.

Requirements

• Eight (8) years of experience in software engineering in similar programs and contracts, with two (2) years in Big-Data Cloud technologies or Distributed Computing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution, or four (4) years of relevant experience may substitute.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
• Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may substitute for one (1) year of Cloud experience.

The following Cloud-related experiences are required:

• Two (2) years of experience in Cloud and Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR).
• One (1) year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud Big Table.
• One (1) year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud Distributed File System.
• One (1) year of experience with complex MapReduce analytics.
• One (1) year of experience with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.

Additional experience areas include:

• Computer Network Operations and utility computing related to Cloud Computing.
• Information Assurance techniques including securing Cloud-based applications via Firewalls, PKI Certificates, etc.
• Object Oriented Design and Programming, Java, and related technologies.
• Various Cloud and Distributed Computing Technologies such as YARN, Zookeeper, and HDFS.
• Experience with SIGINT and related geolocation and signal applications.
• Configuration management tools experience.

Desired Skills

• In-depth knowledge of Information Retrieval.
• Implementing complex workflows managing Cloud MapReduce analytics.
• Overseeing software development tasks ensuring alignment with process constraints.
• Making recommendations for improving documentation and software development standards.
