Job Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking an experienced Application Developer for a hybrid contract position in Birmingham, Alabama. This role involves full-stack Java/web application development focused on remediating and enhancing existing applications. Responsibilities include web application development, bug fixes, security updates, database schema design, and application configuration and maintenance. The role requires knowledge of Java and Spring Framework, SQL databases, and software development life cycle processes. Familiarity with CI/CD, GIT, and scripting is also essential. This is not a temp-to-hire position and involves a 4-day office/1-day remote hybrid schedule.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop application enhancements with complex business requirements, including custom data interfaces and compliance regulations.
• Convert existing stand-alone solutions into CloverDX Data Services.
• Develop and deploy application changes using JetBrains IntelliJ IDE and other related software development tools.
• Create schema alteration and bulk data load SQL scripts.
• Manage changes to production solutions using change management practices.
• Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and established work practices.

Job Requirements

Experience

• 5+ years in the field of application development or software engineering.
• 3+ years of experience with Spring Framework.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Proficiency with Java, JavaScript, HTML5, JDBC, REST and SOAP APIs, and SQL.
• Proficiency with Git/GitHub Enterprise for source code management.
• Experience with Vue3 and Bootstrap 5 is required.
• Experience with AngularJS 1.x and Bootstrap 3 is a plus.
• Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Knowledge of various software development techniques, agile methods, and secure software development best practices.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills to work with multiple levels of personnel.

Desired Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of relational database programming and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of software development and CI/CD environments/tools.
• Knowledge of Java application server environments like Apache Tomcat.
• Knowledge of LDAP and communication networks.
• Knowledge of data historians like AVEVA PI System or AVEVA eDNA.
