Job Description
The Creative Director leads the creative vision for a multi-brand health and wellness portfolio. This role translates brand strategy into compelling visual storytelling across categories and channels while ensuring cohesive, high-quality execution at every consumer touchpoint. The Creative Director builds and leads a high-performing in-house creative team, establishes scalable creative systems and standards, and partners with internal stakeholders and external agencies to deliver consistent, world-class creative that drives brand growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop the overarching creative strategy aligned to brand, marketing, and business objectives.
- Define creative platforms, storytelling frameworks, and visual territories that drive differentiation.
- Partner with Brand and Marketing leadership to translate strategic priorities into creative roadmaps.
- Translate brand strategy into cohesive, high-impact visual storytelling across packaging, digital, social, retail, and experiential.
- Ensure consistent, elevated brand expression across all consumer touchpoints.
- Set and uphold creative standards, guidelines, and quality benchmarks.
- Oversee external agencies, freelancers, and production partners as an extension of the internal team.
- Define when and how to leverage external resources for scale, specialization, or speed.
- Provide strategic direction, feedback, and creative approval for external work.
- Own the creative budget, including agency, freelance, production, and tooling investments.
- Optimize internal vs external resourcing to maximize impact and efficiency.
- Track spend, forecast needs, and ensure alignment with business priorities.
- Design and evolve creative processes, workflows, and governance models.
- Implement systems for briefing, prioritization, approvals, and asset management.
- Introduce tools, templates, and scalable frameworks to increase speed and consistency.
- Drive continuous improvement of the creative function as the business grows.
- Balance big-idea thinking with executional rigor and timelines.
- Guide channel-specific creative adaptation and testing.
- Incorporate performance insights and consumer feedback into creative evolution.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of two, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, goal setting, and ongoing coaching.
- Establish clear roles, workflows, and performance expectations to ensure alignment, accountability, and effective execution.
- Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and growth-oriented team culture that encourages creativity, development, and continuous improvement.
- Identify evolving talent needs and contribute to future team structure and capability planning.
- Other assigned duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Marketing, Advertising, or related field (preferred).
- 10–15+ years in creative leadership, design, or art direction (CPG, wellness, beauty, or lifestyle preferred).
- Proven experience leading and scaling creative teams.
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative strategy and brand storytelling frameworks.
- Experience managing agencies, freelancers, and creative budgets.
- Strong understanding of design systems, content creation, and multi-channel execution.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments with ambiguity.
- Proven ability to influence decision-makers, pursue support for ideas, and achieve win-win outcomes in complex situations.
- Leverage analytics to drive strategic recommendations and business growth.
- Develop marketing plans, coordinate projects, manage team activities, and meet deadlines within budget.
- Effectively manage and organize multiple projects at once while ensuring seamless execution.
- Ability to think strategically to drive long-term brand growth, then translate and execute into an impactful marketing initiative.
- Exceptional presentation skills, able to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, with the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook); NetSuite (a plus).
- Capable of reading, analyzing, and interpreting business data, including reports, periodicals, and technical documents.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach, taking on additional responsibilities and embracing opportunities for growth and development.
- Prioritize and organize tasks effectively, ensuring timely completion and resource allocation.
- Travel for this role may be required up to 30%.
