Position Summary: The Extra Help Cinematographer/Creative Video Producer (Digital Storyteller) will plan, produce, and edit original photography and video productions to support the University of Illinois Chicago’s goals for recruitment, retention, student success, engagement, research, and advancement. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Brand and Creative Communications and values a team-oriented approach in promoting the university’s academic and research mission.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field.
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video production, or related areas.
- Additional education, training, or work experience may be required based on position requirements.
NOTE: A Master’s Degree in a relevant area may substitute for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and execute original, high-quality photography and multimedia content.
- Conceptualize and produce content for marketing and external editorial media.
- Assist with video production tasks, including scouting and music production.
- Understand distribution channels for photo and multimedia content.
- Adapt contemporary photography techniques to support UIC brand identity.
- Care for multimedia production equipment and assist with digital asset management.
- Facilitate access to photography assets across campus communication needs.
- Stay engaged with photographic trends and their application within the university context.
- Train colleagues on visual storytelling best practices.
- Manage an annual calendar of photo shoots and coordinate campus events.
- Participate in special projects and other related tasks as assigned.
Additional Information
This position is temporary and limited to 900 hours. It is not eligible for benefits. Candidates may need to work evenings and weekends based on scheduled events.
