Job Description
Global Service Resources is looking for a contractor for LA County in Los Angeles.
TITLE: DevOps Engineer 861
LOCATION: Downey, CA, 90242 (remote)
SHIFT: Standard (8am - 5pm)
HOURS PER WEEK: 40hrs
POSITION: 1
ASSIGNMENT TYPE: Temporary (12months w/ high chance of extension or direct hire with LA County)
TARGET START DATE: 06/15/26
PAYRATE: $50-55/hr W2
A DevOps Engineer serves as the engineer of complex technology implementations in a product-centric environment; is comfortable with bridging the gap between legacy development or operations teams and working toward a shared culture and vision; and works to arm developers with the best tools and ensuring system uptime and performance.
The DevOps Engineer will deploy and configure services using infrastructure as a service (IaaS) providers (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Engine, RackSpace/OpenStack); configure and manage Linux-based servers to serve a dynamic website; debug cluster-based computing architectures; use scripting or basic programming skills to solve problems; install and manage open source monitoring tools; use configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt); develop architecture for continuous integration and deployment, and continuous monitoring; and use containerization technologies (e.g., LXC, Docker, Rocket).
Requirements
- Knowledge and experience in deployment and network operations, or systems administration including scripting, coding and development that focuses on improving the planning, testing and deployment.
- Skill in configuring Linux Slackware web servers; creating custom HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, and C code; developing applications for Android systems; and familiarity with coding and automation tools.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in complex technology implementations in a product-centric environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Completion of a Live Scan and background check at the Probation headquarters in Downey, CA.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Strong DevOps engineering expertise across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, automation, security, and production operations.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including multi-subscription architecture, landing zones, governance, and policy enforcement.
- Proficient in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for automated build, test, release, deployment, rollback, and promotion.
- Skilled in modernizing legacy DevOps processes, including repository migrations and transitioning to standardized pipeline driven delivery.
- Deep knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, configuration driven deployment, and platform standardization using automation and policy controls.
- Experienced in administering and troubleshooting Linux-based and cloud-hosted application environments.
- Proficient with containerization technologies such as Docker and Azure Container Apps, including image lifecycle management with Azure Container Registry.
- Strong understanding of networking and secure application delivery, including Application Gateway, API Management, SSL/TLS, routing, and firewall policies.
- Advanced knowledge of cloud security, including Managed Identity, zero secret architecture, RBAC, governance policies, and secure access design.
- Skilled in monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, diagnostic settings, centralized logging, and alerting.
- Proficient in scripting and automation for provisioning, deployment, and environment management.
- Understanding of Dev Sec Ops, release governance, compliance-driven cloud operations, and operational resilience.
- Experience with AI/ML platform engineering and MLOps using Azure Machine Learning, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, and Azure AI Foundry.
- Skilled in deploying Azure AI Agents in Docker containers and MCP servers, integrating AI Search with Storage Accounts, and enabling cross-tenant connectivity.
- 3 years of experience within the past 4 years designing, deploying, supporting, consolidating, and modernizing enterprise cloud solutions in Azure for complex, regulated, or multi-environment organizations.
- 3 years of experience within the past 4 years implementing end-to-end DevOps lifecycle automation.
- 3 years of experience within the past 4 years managing and automating firewall and network security rules across multiple cloud environments or subscriptions.
- 3 years of experience executing database and analytics platform migrations.
