Job Description

SpitJack is looking for a local freelance videographer to help shoot short-form food and product videos for our e-commerce and social media channels. We sell specialty cooking tools, including meat injectors, BBQ knives, rotisserie equipment, and fireplace cooking tools. The videographer will capture hands-on cooking, BBQ prep, product demos, slicing shots, and finished food results in a clear, engaging style. This is project-based freelance work, starting with one or more test shoots, likely involving filming meat prep, BBQ, and short-form vertical video content for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Shopify, Amazon, and email marketing.

We are based in the Northampton / Western Massachusetts area, so local or regional applicants are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Film short-form food, BBQ, and product demo videos
• Capture close-up shots of meat prep, injecting, trimming, slicing, cooking tools, and finished food
• Shoot vertical video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
• Help create simple, clean, usable footage for social media and e-commerce marketing
• Provide edited clips and/or raw footage as agreed per project
• Work from a shot list or creative direction provided by SpitJack
• Meet agreed delivery timelines

Requirements

• Experience shooting food, product, cooking, restaurant, social media, or small business video content
• A good eye for close-up detail, texture, hands-on action, and visually appealing food shots
• Ability to shoot clear, well-lit video with good framing and focus
• Comfort working around meat prep, BBQ, and cooking equipment
• Experience with short-form vertical video preferred
• Ability to edit simple social media clips is a plus
• Reliability, clear communication, and willingness to work from a defined project scope
• Must be available for local shoots in or near Northampton, MA / Western Massachusetts
• Must provide examples of previous video work
• Must have your own basic video equipment
• Must be comfortable delivering footage/files digitally
• Must be willing to work under a written project agreement
• Food, product, BBQ, restaurant, or social media video experience strongly preferred

Compensation

Compensation will be based on experience and project scope. Please include your hourly rate, half-day rate, or project rate when applying. Pay ranges from $25.00 to $40.00 per hour. This is a freelance/project-based opportunity to start, with the potential for additional projects if the first shoot works well.
