Job Description
Fulcrum Digital is an agile and next-generation digital accelerating company providing digital transformation and technology services from ideation to implementation. These services are applicable across various industries, including banking & financial services, insurance, retail, higher education, food, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Key Objectives:
- Hands-on experience with:
- Assist in source-to-target data testing using basic SQL scripting (manual testing).
- Support data transformation and manipulation testing with simple SQL queries.
- Help validate data quality and completeness using SQL (manual testing).
- Gain exposure to ETL processes and participate in basic ETL testing activities.
- Learn to run and monitor ETL processes through schedulers under supervision.
- Quality Assurance, Process Improvement and Collaboration:
- Execute test cases to validate data within on-prem and cloud data warehouses, following established test plans.
- Participate in testing ETL processes, dimensional data models, and reporting outputs as guided by senior team members.
- Identify and document data quality issues, escalating findings to data engineers and senior QA staff.
- Validate data loading and transformation processes with guidance.
- Assist in ensuring data consistency and integrity across data sources.
- Work closely with BA, data architect, data engineers, QA and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliverables.
- Learn and apply QA testing strategies and methodologies as directed.
- Follow best practices for data validation and error handling.
- Support the design and implementation of data quality assurance tools and frameworks.
- Provide clear documentation and basic reports on data quality findings and testing outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Basic understanding of Data Warehouse and Data Quality concepts.
- 0–2 years of experience in data warehouse development and/or testing.
- Entry-level candidates are welcome; a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering is required, along with some hands-on experience (e.g., data validation projects).
- Exposure to SQL Server and basic SQL queries for data validation.
- Familiarity with ETL concepts and testing procedures.
- Willingness to learn reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, MS Power BI).
- Strong attention to detail and a result-driven test approach.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and demonstrate solid work ethics.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to provide support as needed, including off-hour support on a rotation basis.
You’re a Great Fit If You Have:
- Internship or academic project experience in Quality Assurance (manual testing).
- Exposure to SSIS & MSSQL (basic level).
- Familiarity with Snowflake and DBT is a plus.
- Willingness to learn QA automation tools.
- Basic knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and QA processes.
- Ability to write simple test cases and scenarios.
- Basic knowledge of bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Understanding of different types of testing (unit, integration, system, acceptance).
- Exposure to basic SQL queries for data validation.
Desirable Qualifications/Pluses:
- Knowledge of Insurance Data & its processes.
- Data validation experience between on-prem & cloud (i.e. hybrid) architecture.
- Familiarity with cloud computing and the data ecosystem on Snowflake.
