Role: DevOps Engineer

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid / Approved Remote)

Engagement Type: Full - Time

Clearance: Able to obtain Public Trust clearance upon hire

Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and compliant cloud infrastructure supporting NCCIH’s digital platforms and research initiatives. The ideal candidate will bridge development and operations, ensuring efficient CI/CD pipelines, system reliability, and adherence to federal security standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) for high availability and scalability
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment workflows
  • Manage containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Ensure system security, compliance, and governance aligned with federal standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST)
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and incident response using observability tools
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Collaborate with development, security, and data teams to streamline deployment processes
  • Manage configuration, patching, and environment consistency across systems
  • Support disaster recovery, backup strategies, and business continuity planning
  • Document processes, architecture, and operational procedures

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6–10+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure preferred)
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Understanding of networking, security, and system administration
  • Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
