Job Description

The Government of Alberta is seeking a Data Product Analyst / Data Analyst to support the Digital Regulatory Assurance System (DRAS) program. This role is responsible for building and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-quality data pipelines and analytics-ready datasets using Microsoft Azure technologies. The successful candidate will help modernize legacy systems into a unified data platform supporting regulatory, environmental, and compliance reporting across ministries.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science, IT, Data, or related field
• 3+ years experience with Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, workflows, notebooks, and cluster management
• 3+ years experience designing analytics-ready data platforms (Power BI, Synapse, data marts, semantic layers)
• 2+ years experience in data governance, metadata management, and security in Databricks environments
• 4+ years experience using Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development
• 3+ years experience with Azure infrastructure (Storage, SQL, Synapse, authentication, Managed Identities)
• 5+ years experience in Python and SQL for data engineering (ETL/ELT workflows)
• 1+ year experience using AI tools for code generation, automation, or data analysis

Nice to Have

• 6+ years experience in data requirement analysis and transformation logic
• 6+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Server (design, optimization, administration)
• 2+ years experience with Microsoft Fabric or Synapse advanced features
• 1+ year experience in Government of Alberta or public sector environments
• 2+ years experience with ETL tools such as SSIS or Talend
• 3+ years experience designing RESTful APIs
• 5+ years experience working in cross-functional Agile teams
• Experience integrating ServiceNow with Azure data platforms
• Experience with messaging systems (Azure Service Bus, Kafka, ActiveMQ)
