Job Description

We are seeking a highly creative and trend-driven Senior Designer - Temp to support the Madden NYC design team across women’s apparel categories, with a strong focus on denim, woven bottoms, jackets, and fashion separates. This temporary role requires a designer with a strong fashion point of view, excellent trend instincts, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

The ideal candidate is both creative and highly organized — someone who can take direction, execute quickly, and confidently manage development from concept through production while maintaining the Madden NYC aesthetic. This position is based in our NYC office and requires working on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of women’s apparel categories including denim, woven bottoms, jackets, and fashion separates from concept through production.
  • Research and interpret seasonal fashion trends, runway influences, competitive market trends, and customer needs to create trend-right and commercially viable products.
  • Develop seasonal concepts, color stories, washes, fabrications, silhouettes, trims, and styling direction aligned with the Madden NYC brand aesthetic.
  • Create and execute CADs, technical sketches, presentation boards, and design packages to support product development and production.
  • Partner cross-functionally with merchandising, product development, technical design, and overseas vendors to ensure timely execution of product.
  • Attend fittings and collaborate with technical design to maintain fit consistency, product quality, and design intent throughout development.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Support the design team through all stages of seasonal development, including sample reviews, product approvals, and communication with overseas factories.
  • Contribute creative ideas and styling direction to support overall collection development and brand consistency.
  • Maintain strong organization, follow-through, and proactive communication across all aspects of the design process.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with support and resources as needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–8+ years of women’s apparel design experience, with strong experience in denim and woven categories.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary fashion trends, market positioning, and commercial product development.
  • Proven ability to design across multiple apparel categories including denim, bottoms, jackets, and fashion separates.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, washes, fabrications, trims, and product development processes.
  • Experience working with overseas factories and cross-functional teams throughout the development cycle.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong trend awareness, styling instincts, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Fast-paced, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset with strong follow-through and accountability.
