Job Description

As an Analytical Data Product Scientist at Roblox, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our data assets. You’ll collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to design and build best-in-class analytical data products. This role involves building scalable data systems and ensuring they are optimized for discovery, usability, and actionable insights across the organization. This position is a 12-month temporary role based in our San Mateo HQ office, eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

You Have:

• An advanced or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in data engineering, analytical engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong data engineering skills, including experience with large datasets, telemetry logging, and data pipeline development.
• Strong communication, good judgment, and a growth mindset to solve new and unique challenges with high independence.
• Experience with metric design, data visualization, including dashboard design and implementation; experience in the social product and gaming industry is a plus.

Job Responsibilities

You Will:

• Analytical Product Ownership: Design and develop “data-as-a-product” solutions, including foundational datasets and self-service analytics tools that empower product teams.
• Scalable Data Pipelines: Own the development of robust, scalable ETL pipelines that transform raw events into clean, high-fidelity aggregates.
• Telemetry Product Design: Lead the design of logging and telemetry frameworks for new product launches, ensuring data quality is “built-in” rather than “bolted-on.”
• Infrastructure & Optimization: Optimize existing data ecosystems into consumable products, reducing latency and increasing the reliability of reporting and research.
• Insight Delivery: Conduct ad-hoc exploratory analyses and create world-class visualizations that translate complex datasets into clear product narratives.

Compensation

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is $126.77–$155.21 USD per hour. The actual base pay depends on a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Work Schedule

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
