The Film is a warm, character-led film with a real sense of humour. It opens with a voiceover playfully teasing our two leads — Rashid, and then Noura — about how disorganised they are with their wedding only two weeks away. There are properly funny moments here. From there the film turns into a stretch of practical guidance for the couple — a gentle “spoon-feeding” of information that we want to feel charming and light rather than like a lecture — before arriving at the wedding itself. The journey ends on a single feeling: طمأنينة (tama’neena) — a deep, settled sense of calm and reassurance.
So the film travels: from playful chaos, through getting-it-together, to warmth and arrival. That emotional arc is the thing the whole film — picture, edit, voice, and music — is built to deliver.

The Role
We’re looking for a composer to write an original score for the film — composed to the locked picture, delivered as a full mix plus stems for our final dub alongside the Arabic voiceover and sound design. This is a score with range: funny and light at the top, emotionally full by the end, all in one coherent voice.

Musical Direction
Two principles sit at the heart of this:
One theme that transforms. We’d love the narrative arc to be carried by the music, not just sat under it — ideally a single theme that grows up across the film. Playful and a little chaotic at the start, finding its shape and momentum through the middle, then blooming into something tender and full at the wedding. The transformation of one melody is how the story is told in sound.
Arabic by soul. Essential — but this does not mean stacking oud loops or traditional percussion. The Arab identity should live in the melody, the maqam colour, and the phrasing — the emotional language itself. Carried even on piano or strings, it should still feel unmistakably Arab at heart. Modern, cinematic, and rooted.

Across the film, in three movements:

The teasing — let the fun be heard. As the voiceover ribs Rashid, then Noura, the music smiles with it: light, nimble, a little cheeky. The playfulness should come from an Arabic melodic lilt that dances, not from comedy-score gimmicks. Affectionate, not slapstick.

The information — spoon-feeding, made charming. As the film turns to the practical stuff, the music keeps it from ever feeling like a lecture — a gentle forward pulse that stays bright and moving. The opening theme returns, more organised and purposeful, mirroring the couple getting it together.

The wedding — طمأنينة. Everything resolves. The same melody, now full and tender, opens into warmth — emotional but with restraint, never saccharine. It lands on that settled, reassured feeling, earned by all the lightness that came before.

What to avoid: oversized, manipulative orchestration that tells the audience how to feel; orientalist “Arabian” shorthand; comedy-score clichés in the lighter sections; and wall-to-wall scoring with no air.
