Job Description

Statewide association seeks a Digital Media Specialist for its general-interest monthly magazine with a circulation of 1.7 million. The role involves providing video and photography, social media management, and event coverage for the brand’s communications platform, parent association, and related organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Digital content creation (45%-55%)
• Produce, shoot, and edit videos and capture photos, requiring travel to cover events across Texas and occasionally beyond.
• Digital content marketing (30%-40%)
• Direct and execute social media strategy, manage digital social advertising, craft and schedule posts, and collaborate with colleagues on social media planning.
• Event reporting (10%-20%)
• Provide written coverage of events including reporting, collecting quotes, and gathering facts to produce AP Style stories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Some experience with social media management required.
• Minimum of five years of experience in all core duties required.
• Strategic and creative thinker with a passion for digital media.
• Competency in all necessary software and hardware for high-quality video and photography projects required.
• Outgoing personality; comfortable presenting programs/training and showing initiative preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work within a team environment on various projects under tight deadlines.
• Position requires 30% overnight travel.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand or sit for sustained periods of time.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle, including maintaining a valid driver’s license.
• Able to operate a computer and other office machinery, requiring finger dexterity for typing.
• Must be able to communicate and exchange information by spoken word.
• Able to lift or move lightweight materials up to 50 pounds.
• Visual acuity to view a computer screen required.
