Job Description

The role involves supporting the technical needs of our STD HIV staff, focusing on data migrations, ongoing data warehousing projects, and other technical initiatives. The position will assist in projects related to the Electronic Disease Surveillance System (EDSS) and support CDC Data Modernization Efforts.

Requirements

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

• 3+ Years of Experience with MS T-SQL (Stored Procedures, Advanced Queries, Optimization)
• 3+ Years of Experience with ETL Process Development
• 1+ Year of Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• 3+ Years of Experience with Report Development
• 3+ Years of Experience with Data Warehousing & Relational Databases
• 1+ Year of Experience with HL7 v 2.3.1 - 2.5.1 and ORU Messages
• 3+ Years of Experience with XML
• 3+ Years of Experience with MS SQL Server 2016+
• 1+ Year of Experience with security and data classification related to CDC, HIPAA, CJIS, PHI, PII

Preferred Skills

• Ability to manage large data sets (1 TB+)
• Requirements Gathering & Documentation
• Public Health / Disease Surveillance Systems Experience
• Statistical Analysis System (SAS)
• LOINC / SNOMED
• FASTQ Files and Demultiplexing
• R & RStudio

Additional Information

The position duration is 12 months with an immediate start date and no possibility for extension. Public sector experience is preferable, and pre-employment checks will include criminal background checks and a review of credit history. The working hours are generally standard weekdays, with flexibility required for weekend support on occasion. The work does not cover costs like travel and benefits, and all developed code will remain the property of the South Carolina Department of Public Health.
