At Piper, we’re searching for passionate, detail-oriented individuals to join our team in San Diego, CA.

You will get to enjoy a reliable schedule, working Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. We are offering a pay range of $25.00 per hour for this position. This is an immediate start and will go through the summer until September 4, 2026.

Requirements

We are searching for Point Cloud Data Analysts who will work with the team to analyze a series of lidar scans that, when aligned correctly, create a map of a portion of a railway. Your work will consist of verifying the output of the automated tools and, if necessary, manually adjusting individual scans until they overlap seamlessly. No engineering background is required for this position. The most important skills for this role are patience and a keen eye for detail.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

• Using provided software tools to manually adjust the position and rotation of frames that didn’t align automatically, matching reference points until the geometry lines up cleanly.
• Working through large batches of frames methodically, checking work section by section.
• Maintaining a consistent standard of output quality across long sessions, even when the task is repetitive.

Skills:

• Very detail-oriented
• Strong, systematic approach to work
• Ability to pick up software tools quickly
• Can focus on detailed, repetitive work for long periods of time

Nice to have:

• Proven ability to meet output targets without sacrificing accuracy
• Experience in a role that required sustained precision — quality control, editing, technical illustration, or similar
• Background working with spatial data or 3D software (hobby level included)
