This project is for designing and sampling a premium saree collection, focusing on the historic Jamdani supplementary weft weaving technique. The designer will work closely with master weavers from important Jamdani clusters to bring in contemporary geometric motifs, modern color palettes, and new yarn blends, while honoring the tradition of this UNESCO-recognized art form. The primary tasks involve reimagining classic Jamdani floral motifs into minimalist and geometric styles for a modern audience, collaborating with skilled artisans, and experimenting with different yarn materials such as cotton, mulmul, muslin, and linen blends to create innovative fabric structures.
