Eniyan laso is a Nigerian textile print brand focused on telling authentic African stories through repeat pattern design. Every print is inspired by ordinary African life, history, memory, and culture, and the designs are meant to work as both traditional clothing like iro and buba, wrapper, agbada, and as contemporary pieces such as scarves, bucket hats, and tops. Currently, we are developing our first two prints: one inspired by a childhood hairdresser’s shop and another from a lavish corporate event. Both prints incorporate Yoruba or Nigerian vernacular text woven into the repeat. We are looking for a surface pattern designer with a strong illustrative hand who understands repeat structures and is genuinely interested in cultural storytelling.

Every print is a story, literal or metaphorical, drawn from ordinary African life, history, memory, and culture. The prints must work as authentic traditional cloth, iro and buba, wrapper, agbada, and as contemporary pieces, scarves, bucket hats, tops. A woman in a market and a woman at a gallery should both be able to wear it without either looking out of place. We are currently developing our first two prints: one set in a childhood hairdresser’s shop, one at a lavish corporate event. Both carry embedded Yoruba or Nigerian vernacular text woven quietly into the repeat. We are looking for a surface pattern designer who understands repeat structure, has a strong illustrative hand, and is genuinely excited by cultural storytelling.
