This position offers a chance to work in a SCIF environment in Dulles, VA as a Staff Ground Software Engineer, responsible for high-side ground software development.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Advise on integration of new technologies to the program’s systems.
- Implement engineering changes to the system as required.
- Review and analyze technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures.
- Work on temporary off-peak hours assignments for time-constrained HW/SW integration.
- Full lifecycle design, implementation, and unit testing of software.
- Integrate functionality with other software components.
- Lead a team to drive solutions for complex problems.
- Support working groups and develop software products.
- Keep technical documentation and presentations updated.
- Identify and implement improved tools and processes.
- Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation.
- Ensure logical conversion of requirements into total systems solutions.
- Lead engineering teams with program execution.
- Mentor engineers on all phases of the program.
- Support day-to-day activities in the software department.
- Lead a team of Software Developers, supporting their training and career growth.
Requirements

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years of relevant software experience or a Master’s Degree and 10 years of related experience or a Ph.D. with 7 years of relevant experience (or 16 years total experience in lieu of a degree).
- Familiar with all phases of the software development life cycle and Agile methodologies.
- Prior lead or management experience in a team environment.
- 2+ years of experience with C/C++, Java, Python, or other OOP languages.
- 2+ years of experience with Docker containerization and Kubernetes.
- 2+ years of experience in Linux tools/automation and shell scripting.
- 2+ years of experience with continuous integration/deployment tools such as Jenkins or GitLab.
- Expert knowledge in software development.
- Experience with configuration management using industry standard tools.
- Must have an Active DoD Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain/maintain special program access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering.
- Familiarity with Rhapsody, Cameo, Eclipse, Atlassian Tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, etc.).
- Experience with Agile methodologies and containerization technology.
- Experience with virtualization technology (e.g. VirtualBox, QEMU, KVM, vmWare).
- Experience with scripting languages like Bash and Python.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and experience working in a DevOps culture.
- Preferred candidates will have demonstrated leadership on a Northrop Grumman program including software architecture oversight.
- Hold an active Program Access clearance.
Additional Information
Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00. This salary range is a guideline and offers may vary based on experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differentials, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Comprehensive benefits offered include health insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, paid holidays, and PTO.
