Job Title: Digital Content Producer - WFXT TV

Position Overview

WFXT Boston 25 is looking for a Digital Content Producer to join the team! The ideal candidate will work effectively across multiple platforms, have a firm grasp of digital and social media, and combine journalistic skills with versatile media expertise. Digital Content Producers create original content that is essential to news operations.

A successful Digital Content Producer is a skilled writer and editor, an expert in social media, capable of uncovering story ideas and handling breaking news. They need to stay updated on current events and work as an integral member of the content center to direct crews, develop stories, and distribute information in real-time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Gather, create, and post content accurately and timely on digital platforms in support of digital strategies.
• Write web stories, manage content placement on the website, and post to social media channels.
• Monitor web and social analytics and utilize social tools for strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate with reporters, photographers, and the digital content team to gather material that enhances digital stories.
• Search social media for content that drives and enhances the editorial process.
• Track local and national story developments and communicate with the newsroom throughout the day.
• Assist the assignment desk by fielding phone calls and news tips, listening to police/emergency scanners for breaking news, and communicating in real-time with officials as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in journalism, communications, or a related field of study.
• At least 1 year of experience in digital, broadcast, or print journalism.
• Creative and innovative approach to social media.
• Strong writing skills and capacity to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
• Knowledge of web content management systems and social media platforms.
• Decisive decision-maker able to produce stories under strict deadlines.
• On-site work is essential; flexibility to work any shift, including overnights and weekends.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $19.23 per hour to $36.06 per hour.
