Job Description
Content creator for new start-up, Maine Coast Life, covering upcoming events in the Portland area, and from Kittery to Mid Coast. Event categories include live music of all genres, comedy, food & beverage festivals, tours, theater, museums, film festivals, and more. We are looking for a person who can help us tell stories about artists/performers, event venues, event promoters, and behind-the-scenes people who make great events happen. Our goal is to engage our audience and inspire consumers to participate: attend, perform, or volunteer at an event. We’re looking for candidates who are interested in multimedia journalism, who have a passion for covering live events, and documenting Maine’s unique culture.
Responsibilities
- Capture high-quality video footage and professional photography using various filming techniques and equipment.
- Edit raw footage into engaging, cohesive videos utilizing industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Canva, etc.
- Enhance visual content through photo editing, photo manipulation, and motion graphics using Adobe Photoshop, social media apps (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.), Canva, etc.
- Develop post-production plans to ensure project objectives are met efficiently.
- Generate compelling story pitches by staying on top of local news, events, and happenings around Maine.
- Incorporate typography, sound design, and visual effects to create captivating motion graphics and animations.
- Collaborate with editors to understand project goals, deliver creative solutions, and meet deadlines consistently.
Requirements
- Proven experience in videography, video editing, and photo editing with a strong portfolio demonstrating your work. Entry-level candidates will be considered, but priority will be given to those with prior experience.
- Proficiency in Video Editing Software.
- Skilled in post-production processes such as color correction, sound editing, motion graphics, and visual effects.
- Knowledge of photography techniques.
- Familiarity with content creation tools, specifically on social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills while maintaining attention to detail.
- Remote work is acceptable, but candidates must be able to travel to cover events around the greater Portland area.
Additional Information
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Willingness to travel: 50% (Required)
