Job Description

This is a remote position for a Sr. APEX/ORDS Software Developer with the Ontario Government. The closing date for applications is July 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The project, APEX/ORDS Evergreening, aims to modernize five mission-critical applications for the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). This entails upgrading Oracle Database, Oracle APEX, Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS), and Red Hat Linux infrastructure that has reached end-of-life, while preparing the applications for cloud hosting in alignment with Ontario’s Digital and Data Strategy.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise web applications using Oracle APEX.
• Develop RESTful APIs and backend services using Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS).
• Translate technical specifications into well-designed, tested, and maintainable applications.
• Develop SQL and PL/SQL code, stored procedures, packages, and database objects.
• Design and optimize Oracle database schemas and data models.
• Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): requirements analysis, design, development, unit testing, deployment, maintenance.
• Perform application performance tuning and optimization.
• Analyze legacy applications and provide modernization recommendations.
• Support implementation, migrations, and post-production issues.
• Review and modify installation and deployment scripts.
• Conduct design walkthroughs and technical knowledge transfer sessions.
• Produce technical documentation, system documentation, and operational procedures.
• Ensure applications comply with security best practices and AODA accessibility standards.
• Collaborate with developers, business teams, architects, and stakeholders.
• Track work using Kanban/Azure DevOps boards.
