Job Description

Roughan Interiors is looking for a talented Freelance Designer to join our close-knit, creative team. You’ll work directly with the Principal Designer on a range of projects—from concept development through installation—with real ownership over the details that make a space exceptional. If you love the full arc of design work, from sourcing a perfect vintage find to managing a construction site, this is a role where your craft and judgment will be trusted and valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop interior design concepts, client presentations, and technical documentation across the full project lifecycle.
• Create drawing sets in AutoCAD—floor plans, RCPs, and elevations.
• Conduct site surveys and develop project budgets and cost estimates.
• Generate scopes of work and manage the contractor bidding process.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and third-party consultants.
• Source and specify vintage and contemporary furniture, fabrics, lighting, art, and objects.
• Build and confidently present design presentations, in person and via video conference.
• Develop design-intent shop drawings for custom millwork and architectural details.
• Coordinate and oversee installation of all deliverables.
• Serve as the main point of contact for general contractors, overseeing site progress.
• Produce and manage FF&E schedules, client invoices, and procurement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited Interior Design program.
• Minimum 3 years of design firm experience.
• High proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; proficiency in Studio Designer.
• SketchUp or other 3D rendering experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of luxury finishes, high-end showrooms, and custom furniture fabrication.
• Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• A confident, independent worker who’s also a genuine team player.
• Excellent communication and client-facing presence.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, collegial environment.
• A flexible, whatever-it-takes attitude when a project needs extra hands to the finish line.

Additional Information

Pay: $35.00 - $48.00 per hour
