Job Description

The Division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention (CDIP) within the Philadelphia Department of Public Health is seeking a Web Application Developer to build and secure the back-end of a WordPress site to support the project’s functions. The developer will collaborate with CDIP’s UX/UI content manager to create a website with mobile support and usable interfaces that adhere to best practices, including meeting WCAG AA standards. This position is primarily remote, with onsite work as needed.

Requirements

Skills/Experience Required:

• Excellent communication skills: Ability to articulate technical information to non-technical audiences, explain design decisions, and maintain team communication.
• Relationship-building: Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and maintain strong collaborations.
• Curiosity: Active listening, problem-solving, and willingness to learn new skills.
• Three or more years of experience in systems analysis, programming, and design, with a BA/BS in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Understanding of design principles and familiarity with accessibility guidelines.
• Flexibility in troubleshooting front-end issues and familiarity with translation frameworks.
• Understanding of performance, scalability, security, and testing applications.
• Extensive coding knowledge in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
