Job Description

The Division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention (CDIP) within the Philadelphia Department of Public Health is seeking a Web Application Developer to build and secure the back-end of a WordPress site to support the project’s functions. The candidate will collaborate with CDIP’s UX/UI content manager to create a mobile-supported website that meets best practices, including WCAG AA standards. The position is primarily remote, with onsite presence as needed.

Requirements

Required Skills/Experience:

• Excellent communication skills; able to articulate design decisions and craft clear narratives.
• Relationship-building skills to work with a variety of people and maintain effective communication.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn; active listening skills for problem-solving.
• Three (3) years or more of experience in systems analysis, programming, and design, with a BA/BS in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Understanding of design principles and familiarity with accessibility principles.
• Flexibility to troubleshoot front-end concerns.
• Experience using translation frameworks.
• Familiarity with performance, scalability, security, and testing applications.
• Extensive coding knowledge in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP.

• Self-directed, with the ability to prioritize tasks and seek help when needed.
• Systems thinker, able to understand how features affect other parts of the project.
