Job Description
WGAL, the Hearst Television NBC affiliate in the Lancaster-Lebanon-Harrisburg-York, PA market, is seeking a self-motivated individual to assist in high school football coverage as a sideline videographer. This role will involve spending several hours each Friday night during the fall high school football season capturing and editing highlights for the Football Friday show. The position is temporary and entry-level, requiring candidates to be tech-savvy with modern media skills. Candidates must have experience shooting on Sony XD Cam and editing in Adobe Premiere, and be proficient in utilizing wireless data solutions for video distribution. An excellent eye for video and a knowledge of high school sports is essential.
Responsibilities
- Shooting and editing highlights for Broadcast Air and online postings.
- Collaborating with the Assignment Desk and WGAL Sports department to cover assigned events.
- Communicating and coordinating incoming video elements from field crews.
- Utilizing catalog systems to record and locate necessary video.
- Producing and publishing content to online platforms.
Requirements
- Must have experience with computer and software.
- Previous newsroom experience is preferred.
- Related military experience will be considered.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to operate large vehicles and possess a valid driver’s license with a near-perfect driving record.
- Exceptional ability to operate digital editing tools.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Must be a self-starter who takes initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
