Job Description

Improbable Comedy is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled individual local to Montgomery County, MD to create content about our monthly shows and 5th annual SPRUNG! Comedy Festival (March 2027). This is a freelance, contract position. Improbable Comedy is a live comedy production group, focused on high-quality performances that highlight a diversity of performers and provide a great show every time for our awesome audience. We produce several shows per month in Takoma, DC and Silver Spring, MD.

Requirements

Schedule: Flexible schedule; position starts July 15.

Required availability: Regular meetings on Monday and Wednesdays evenings. Shows are typically Thursday evenings, several times per month.

Location: Candidates should be in Silver Spring, MD or frequently visit this area. Much of the work can be done virtually; however, some tasks will require visiting venues, businesses, or shows in the Silver Spring/Montgomery County area.

The ideal candidate should work independently but also be team-oriented, demonstrating the ability to ask pertinent questions.

Goals

• To expand awareness of Improbable Comedy and increase attendance at our shows.
• To increase interest for local sponsors who want to sponsor or partner with us.

Responsibilities

• Creating and posting content for our monthly shows.
• Preparing and sending email marketing campaigns through Mailchimp.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in the marketing or event production space.
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Wix, Canva.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
