Unity Programmer – Gameplay Systems & UI (Contract) — Expression of Interest

Game Developer is needed in Australia.

We are building a timing-based competitive fighting game for PC on Steam using Unity. We are looking for a Unity/C# programmer to develop supporting gameplay systems and UI, including a character state and controller framework, camera system, menus, HUD, and general gameplay-adjacent tooling. You will work alongside our lead programmer, who owns the core combat and netcode simulation, using Diversion for version control. This role suits someone who values clean, well-structured systems and UI work and wants to grow with an indie project progressing toward Alpha and Beta, with the team expected to scale to around 20 people.

This is an expression of interest rather than an immediate hire and is contingent on grant funding from Screen Australia or Screen Queensland. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to provide a signed letter of commitment for the funding application. Applicants must be Australian residents, with preference for Queensland residents. The initial engagement is expected to cover the Vertical Slice phase, with potential ongoing work into Alpha and Beta.
