AE NYC Session Recordings

We are seeking an experienced mixing engineer for an independent singer-songwriter project comprising eight acoustic songs recorded in a single studio session. The recordings include guitar, upright bass and lead vocals, with five core tracks per song: close guitar mic, room guitar mic, guitar DI/talkback, mic’d upright bass and a large-diaphragm condenser vocal. Files are organised as 48kHz/24-bit WAVs with session notes and rough mixes; some songs also include arco bass overdubs, short guitar patches or alternate takes.

The work involves mixing all eight songs into polished, release-ready stereo WAVs, blending the multiple guitar microphones, placing vocals in sparse arrangements, and reviewing overdubs and take options where needed. Please allow for one to two revision rounds per song and provide brief notes on key creative decisions. Optional mastering of the collection as a cohesive release may also be included. Experience with acoustic, folk, jazz or singer-songwriter music and upright bass is important. The timeline is flexible, with potential follow-up work.

About the client
We’re managing the post-production for an independent singer-songwriter’s recording project. 8 original acoustic songs were professionally tracked in a single studio session in 2022 (guitar, upright bass, vocals), but the recording engineer never completed the mixing. We’ve organized all the raw multi-track files (48kHz/24-bit WAV) into a clean, DAW-ready folder structure with detailed session notes and a track sheet. We need an experienced mixing engineer to take these from raw stems to polished, release-ready mixes. The material is intimate and acoustic – think singer-songwriter/jazz/folk territory, not pop production. We have a project brief ready to share with interested engineers.
