2D Animation Director / Music Video Animator

2D Animator is needed in United States.

I am looking for a 2D animation director/music video animator for my hip-hop/pop album project. I want to develop a stylized animated version of myself that can appear across multiple songs and visual worlds. The visuals should balance femininity, fashion, luxury, romance, humor, surrealism, and cinematic storytelling, while reflecting the contrast between my outward image and the edgier, emotional side of my music.

For each song, I will provide the music, lyrics, personal meaning, and initial visual ideas. I am looking for someone who can use these as a starting point and bring their own original storytelling, character, setting, symbolism, pacing, and visual interpretation. The process will include concept and story treatment, collaboration and refinement, storyboarding, and animation. I will provide feedback and retain final creative approval. Delivery is planned for summer 2027.

About Me I’m an independent artist developing my first major music project, a hip-hop/pop album that blends confidence, sensuality, vulnerability, humor, ambition, love, and self-discovery. As an artist, I’m naturally feminine, soft, expressive, and approachable, but my music has a much edgier and more unexpected side. I don’t necessarily look or present myself like the music sounds, and I actually want that contrast to become part of my identity. My songs can move from playful and provocative to deeply emotional, reflective, rebellious, or vulnerable. I care a lot about the words I write and the emotions behind them, but I also want the music and visuals to have personality, humor, glamour, and imagination. Visually, I’m drawn to femininity, fashion, luxury, jewelry, beauty, romance, surrealism, and cinematic storytelling. I want my animated character to feel like a recognizable, stylized version of me—not a generic pop character. I’m giving you my songs, lyrics, the meaning behind them, and often my own initial ideas for what I see visually. However, I don’t want you to simply recreate what I’ve imagined. I want you to take my ideas as a starting point and bring your own artistic interpretation to them. I’m especially interested in seeing what you can discover in my music that I may not have thought of myself. The goal is to create an animated version of me that can exist across multiple songs and visual worlds. The individual stories don’t have to connect, but they should all feel like they belong to the same artist. I want the final work to feel feminine, glamorous, playful, unexpected, expressive, slightly surreal, and emotionally honest. Most importantly, I want the animation to capture the contrast between the person I appear to be and the person you discover through my music.
